Former TV news anchor charged for allegedly stabbing mother to death: Court records
A former TV news anchor in Kansas was charged with first-degree murder after she allegedly stabbed her mother to death on Halloween, according court records.
Angelynn Elizabeth Mock, 47, was charged on Tuesday with first-degree murder after her 80-year-old mother, Anita Avers, was fatally stabbed the morning of Halloween in her Wichita home, officials said.
Mock, who appeared in court on Tuesday, is accused in the criminal complaint of "unlawfully, intentionally, and with premeditation" killing Avers.
Last Friday, at approximately 7:52 a.m., officials responded to "a reported cutting at a residence," the Wichita Police Department said in a statement.
Once at the scene, officers "located the suspect outside the home" and found the victim "unresponsive in her bed with multiple stab wounds," police said.
Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital, where police said she was pronounced dead at 8:26 a.m.
Mock was arrested and booked that afternoon, according to jail records.
In court on Tuesday, Mock was read her charges and placed on a bond of $1,000,000.
Her next hearing is scheduled for Nov. 14.
Mock was currently working as a data management consultant, but was previously a TV news anchor for four years at a local station in St. Louis, according to her LinkedIn profile and ABC Wichita affiliate KAKE.
Mock's attorneys did not immediately respond to ABC News' request for comment.
