See a Little Girl's Moving Tribute to the Charleston Shooting Victims
— -- A little girl in South Carolina made a big impact with a drawing that she made memorializing the nine shooting victims who were killed in a Charleston church last week.
The decision to make the drawing reportedly came when her mom was unable to answer some heartbreaking questions about the shooting.
"Why is the world full of broken people?" Madeline, a 7-year-old, reportedly asked her mother, according to ABC News affiliate WCIV.
"Why can't the good people teach the bad people to be good?" Madeleine asked her mother, Melanie. "Just because someone is different doesn't mean you have to do something bad to them."
Madeline decided then to make the drawing, and asked her mother to Google some images for her -- including pictures of the Emanuel AME Church and the victims.
"[Madeleine] wanted the angels to be a good representation," Melanie told WCIV.
Madeleine and Melanie's last names were not disclosed in the report, and they declined to speak directly to ABC News.
The end result of the project was a moving drawing of nine angels flying over the church's roof. A line of people of all different races holding hearts line the bottom of the page.
The drawing, which has been shared nearly 1,000 times on Facebook, has thematic similarities to the cover of this week's issue of The New Yorker magazine.
