Hillary Clinton Slams Donald Trump's Tax Plan as Being 'Written by a Billionaire for Billionaires'
— -- Hillary Clinton ripped into Donald Trump’s tax plan during her remarks at Camden County College in New Jersey today, saying his plan "was written by a billionaire for billionaires.”
She was egged on by a man in the crowd who yelled out about Trump’s returns. (Trump told The Associated Press Tuesday that he won’t release his tax returns until after the November election.)
Clinton said “we’ll get around to that” as she continued to criticize the presumptive Republican nominee’s plan.
“He literally wants to spend more on the top one-tenth of one percent of earners than the bottom 60 percent of earners in our country combined,” she said.
In an interview on NBC's "Meet the Press" last weekend, Trump asserted, “Nobody knows more about taxes than I do and income than I do.” But he has recently drawn scrutiny over the specifics of his tax proposal.
In her speech today, Clinton eventually turned to Trump’s own tax returns.
“What about his taxes?” she asked. "When you run for president -- especially when you become the nominee -- that is kind of expected. My husband and I have released 33 years of tax returns. We got eight years on our website right now. So you got to ask yourself why doesn't he want to release them?”
Clinton has not released this year's taxes yet, but plans to. She and husband Bill Clinton did so last year around this time.
