Idaho 2026 live primary election results
In Idaho, primary voters weighed in on key races, including the gubernatorial race and three congressional races on the ballot.
State significance
This year, three of Idaho's four congressional seats are on the ballot -- one Senate seat and both House seats -- and all incumbents are running, each facing primary challengers.
Republican Sen. Jim Risch is seeking a fourth term in the Senate. The Foreign Relations Committee chairman faces three Republican primary challengers: Denny LaVe, Joe Evans and Josh Roy. Risch announced his bid in April 2025, touting an endorsement from President Donald Trump.
Republican Sen. Mike Crapo, currently serving his fifth term, is not up for reelection; his six-year term began in 2023.
In the House, Republican Rep. Russ Fulcher is running for a fifth term representing Idaho's 1st Congressional District, a seat he has held since 2019. He is running against two Republican challengers: Marine veteran Joseph P. Morrison and farmer Andy Briner. Retired painting contractor Kenneth Brungardt and former Idaho Young Democrats President Kaylee Peterson have filed Democratic bids. Peterson lost to Fulcher in 2022 and 2024.
Republican Rep. Mike Simpson is seeking a 15th term representing the 2nd Congressional District, where he has served since 1999. He currently chairs the House Interior and Environment Subcommittee on Appropriations. Simpson is running against Republicans Brian Keene, a former educator, and Perry Shumway, a marketing professional. Ellie Gilbreath is running on the Democratic side.
On the gubernatorial side, Republican Gov. Brad Little is running for a third term in a state that Trump carried by nearly 40 points in 2024. He is running against seven other Republicans.
Chanelle Torrez, Maxine Durand, Terri Pickens and Jill Kirkham are running on the Democratic side.
