Aspiring Actress Dead in SoCal Murder Mystery
June 19, 2010— -- More than two years after aspiring actress Juliana Redding was found dead in her Santa Monica, California, apartment, police have arrested a man and woman in the killing of the 21-year-old Arizona woman.
Kelly Soo Park, 44, and Ronnie Wayne Case, 34, both of Camarillo, California, were arrested and charged with murder with special circumstances and conspiracy. Both were held with out bail, according to a police statement.
"The Santa Monica Police Department is continuing to investigate this crime and there is the possibility of additional arrests," Santa Monica Police Sgt. Jay Trisler said in a statement released Friday.
In the terse statement, police did not speculate on any possible motive for the murder, and gave no details of what led them to consider Park and Case suspects.
However, according to Trisler, the arrests have not brought an end to the investigation, and more arrests are possible.
Redding, 21, was found dead "as the result of an assault" when authorities went to her home Sunday, March 16, 2008, to check on her well-being, Lt. Alex Padilla of the Santa Monica Police Department told ABC News at the time.
"Friends had been trying to contact her," Padilla said. "They called her mom, she called our department."
It was unclear how long the young woman, an Arizona native, had been dead before authorities found her body.
Padilla would not say whether a weapon was used to kill Redding, citing an ongoing investigation that could be jeopardized by releasing such details. But he did say that it was clear the young woman had been assaulted before she died.
"There were obvious signs of trauma," Padilla said. "At that point, we started interviewing neighbors about who'd seen her last. Now, we're trying to put the pieces together."
