The Department of Justice on Friday filed a lawsuit against Fulton County, Georgia, in an attempt to obtain records from the 2020 election, in what appears to be the latest move from the Trump administration to investigate the election the president lost.

The Justice Department is seeking documents including ballot stubs and signature envelopes from the 2020 general election, the lawsuit from the DOJ's civil department states.

According to the lawsuit, Attorney General Pam Bondi is investigating Fulton County's "compliance with federal election law."

President Donald Trump has continued to falsely claim he won the 2020 election, including the state of Georgia, which he lost to Joe Biden. Trump and 18 others were indicted in Fulton County over alleged efforts to overturn the election results.

Trump pleaded not guilty and the charges against all defendants were dismissed last month.

Asked by ABC News for comment, the Fulton County clerk's office said in a statement: "The Office of the Clerk of Superior and Magistrate Courts is not at liberty to comment on pending litigation."
