June 11, 2013— -- Katelyn Wolfe's family has positively identified the body recovered in the rural area of Indiana where the teen lived as that of their missing daughter, police said this evening.

The family was able to confirm that the body is Katelyn from a photograph provided by investigators, Linton, Ind., Police Chief Troy Jerrell said. He said that asphyxia was the "preliminary finding of the manner of the girl's death" and the case was being treated as homicide.

Katelyn's body was discovered in a body of water in the rural Sullivan County area late Monday. She disappeared from her Linton home around 3 a.m. on June 6.

Two Jasonville, Ind., men -- Randal E. Crosley, 25, and Jordan W. Buskirk, 26 -- were taken into custody today on preliminary charges of murder just hours after authorities said they had located a body believed to the girl.

"They knew what they were doing all along," Jerrell told ABC News affiliate WRTV in Indianapolis. "We don't believe it was an accidental type thing."

He declined to elaborate on what led police to the suspects, who were both being held at the Greene County Jail in Bloomfield.

The search for the missing teen began hours after she posted an ominous Facebook message indicating that she was "out on a walk with creeps that keep driving by," WRTV reported.

The teen's disappearance sparked a massive search of the area by law enforcement, who were joined by dozens of volunteers.

"This is a tight, close knit community we have here," Jerrell said. "[There has been] an overwhelming response from friends and relatives and acquaintances of Katelyn's that are willing to go out and help and have been very supportive of the family."
