December 03, 2021, 2:59 PM

Kaylee Hartung is a correspondent for ABC News based in Los Angeles. She reports for all ABC News broadcasts and platforms, including “Good Morning America,” “World News Tonight with David Muir,” “Nightline” and “ABC News Live.”

Since joining ABC News in 2019, Hartung has been on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic, covered some of the west coast’s most devastating wildfires, and interviewed celebrities in the sports and entertainment world from Simone Biles to Natalie Portman.

Before joining ABC, Hartung was a correspondent for CNN. Breaking news sent her to the riots in Charlottesville, Virgina, the mass shooting in Parkland, Florida, and multiple hurricanes throughout the southeast. As part of CNN’s election coverage in 2018, she followed Georgia’s historical gubernatorial race between Brian Kemp and Stacey Abrams.

Previously, Hartung was an award-winning sports reporter for ESPN. She appeared regularly on “SportsCenter” and contributed to the network’s coverage of the biggest college sporting events in the country, including the College Football Playoffs and the College World Series. During her five years with ESPN, she hosted and reported for the SEC Network and Longhorn Network.

Hartung began her career in CBS News’ Washington bureau as an associate producer for “Face the Nation” and assistant to the program’s then-host Bob Schieffer. She contributed to Schieffer’s research teams for his 2008 and 2012 presidential debates. She also produced, photographed and edited her own reports for CBSNews.com.

Hartung is a graduate of Washington and Lee University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast journalism and politics. She was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
