Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt responded to a report this week that he has been staying at the Hotel Bel Air, rather than the trailer he previously said he was living in after losing his home in the Palisades Fire last year.

According to a report from TMZ published Tuesday, Pratt has been staying at the Hotel Bel Air for over a month while he campaigns for Los Angeles mayor.

Pratt shared a TMZ post linking the report on X on Wednesday, writing, "Hey guys, why don't they wanna talk about why I need a hotel in the first place?"

He then pointed blame at current Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass for "let[ting] my home burn down," as well as "6,000 of my [neighbors' homes]."

The TMZ report focuses on statements Pratt made in a video campaign ad published Apr. 29, which centers on the city of Los Angeles' response to the 2025 wildfires.

In the ad, Pratt appears in front of the Getty House, the official residence for the mayor of Los Angeles, as well as a home he says belongs to his mayoral campaign opponent, City Councilmember Nithya Raman.

"They don't have to live in the mess they've created," he states, before appearing outside of an Airstream trailer situated on a burnt plot of land. "This is where I live. They let my home burn down."

ABC News has reached out to the Bass and Raman campaigns for comment on the ad.

In a statement to TMZ on Wednesday, regarding the outlet's report on the trailer ad, Pratt said, "I have never told anyone I lived there."

According to the outlet, Pratt said he had been staying in the hotel because he was receiving death threats, and because the hotel has "its own armed security [and] that has become the only option."

The Hotel Bel-Air is a luxury hotel in Los Angeles' Bel Air neighborhood, tucked away in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains. Room rates can range from around $1,000 to more than $12,000 per night, depending on the date, according to the hotel's official website.

In a follow-up appearance on "TMZ Live" on Wednesday, the outlet pushed Pratt on his contradictory statements, as well as the fact that he is currently "at the Hotel Bel-Air," to which Pratt replied, "To be clear -- that is where I live ... that is where I will live until I have a new house. The Airstream is a temporary facility. A hotel is a temporary facility ... Again, I don't live at the hotel Bel Air. I don't live in the Airstream. I don't live in Santa Barbara. I don't have a house. They burned it down."

Pratt has made the fires that ravaged Los Angeles last year a focal point of his campaign, which he launched back in January, one year after losing his home in the Palisades Fire, which destroyed more than 6,000 structures and killed at least 12 civilians, according to CalFire.

Pratt is a former reality television star who first gained prominence on the reality series "The Hills," which ran from 2006 to 2010 and followed a group of young people living and working in Los Angeles. Pratt's wife Heidi Montag and sister Stephanie Pratt also appeared on the show.

ABC News has reached out to Pratt's campaign for additional comment.
