Made in America: Finding the perfect Christmas tree for the holiday season
For the 14th year running, "World News Tonight" launched its annual Made in America series with anchor David Muir shining a light on the farmers behind the Christmas trees across the country.

Checking in with the broadcast over the years, Jonathan Claasen, co-founder of the California-based Jonsteen Company, told "World News Tonight" that this year, customers can buy rare and endangered trees along with a variety of evergreen trees that are available to purchase as seedlings.
"Things like Joshua trees -- you can grow this endangered species yourself at your house," Claasen said. "It's amazing how many places this will grow safely."

Across the country in Grantville, Pennsylvania, Dave and Andrea Hogentogler, who are co-owners of Hoagy's Tree Farm, urged "World News Tonight" viewers to buy trees from local farmers.
"Please support local farmers by going out and cutting a live tree this year," Hogentogler said.

Nino Chiappone, owner of Kings Mountain Christmas Trees in Orrington, Maine, also encouraged viewers to support small businesses during the holiday season.
"When you buy local, you help support over 50 Maine vendors," Chiappone said.

Chiappone said that buying products from local businesses is a way to support the work of local artists, creators and woodworkers and is beneficial for the whole community.
"There is no better way to support people than buying local," Chiappone said.
Throughout December, "World News Tonight with David Muir" will continue to feature American-made products and share the stories of the faces behind these businesses.
Viewers can also send in ideas of businesses that they think should be featured through Instagram and the "World News Tonight" social media pages.
