Magnitude 5.7 earthquake reported in Nevada

A magnitude 5.7 earthquake was reported near Silver Springs, Nevada, on Monday evening, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

It was downgraded to magnitude 5.5 before being reclassified again as 5.7, according to USGS.

The earthquake occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. local time at a depth of about 6 miles, according to the agency.

USGS said the epicenter was about 11 miles southeast of Silver Springs, Nevada, in Lyon County. Silver Springs is a little over 60 miles southeast of Reno.

Officials in Lyon County said there was no significant damage or injuries reported from the earthquake.
