Michael Irvin, Mark Dacascos Voted Off 'Dancing With the Stars'

Nov. 4, 2009— -- Dallas Cowboy great Michael Irvin and "Iron Chef" host Mark Dacascos were each sent home Tuesday night in the second double elimination on "Dancing With the Stars."

The stars, appearing with their professional partners on "Good Morning America" today, said they enjoyed their time on the show and were impressed by the talent of the remaining competitors.

Irvin and partner Anna Demidova were the couple with the lowest combined score Monday night, a number based on the judges' scores and fan votes.

"At this point, when you look at the five people who are left … these are great dancers," Irvin said today on "GMA."

"I'm happy that we had seven weeks. We had a good time. That's the best thing about this."

Judge Len Goodman said he was glad Irvin made it that far in the competition, calling his Foxtrot Monday night "brilliant." Carrie Ann Inaba called the performance "gracious" and "elegant."

Despite being sent home, Irvin said he was grateful for the fans' votes, which kept him in the competition despite consistently low rankings.

"We owed so much to the fans who kept us in," he said. "We owed it to them to be as committed as we could."

Following a dance-off Tuesday night between pop star Aaron Carter and Dacascos, the judges decided that although both gave strong performances, it was "Iron Chef" chairman Dacascos who did not have the recipe for success.

Dacascos faced additional challenges because his partner, Lacey Schwimmer, was sick for much of the week.

"You had a really rough week," Inaba said on the show Monday, calling his samba "a mess."

"You have had a tough week ... under the circumstances you've coped very well," Goodman said.

But judge Bruno Tonioli said "it was a little bit like watching Kung Fu Panda dance the Samba in the 'Planet of the Apes,' I don't know what you were throwing in there."

Dacascos acknowledged that it was stressful working with different partners.

"Forty-eight hours prior to Monday night's show, I didn't have a dance [routine]," he said.
