Missing Toddler's Mom Sought 'Sugar Daddy?'
Nov. 15, 2011— -- The mother of missing toddler Sky Metalwala may have created a profile on a dating website that specializes in finding "sugar daddies" for women.
Police have grown increasingly skeptical of Julia Biryukova's statements in the 10 days since her son Sky was reported missing. Biryukova, a Ukranian woman who emigrated from Russia when she was 12, told police she left the boy alone in her car while she walked to get gas with her 4-year-old daughter. When she returned, Biryukova said, Sky was gone.
A profile on seekingarrangement.com with the user name "JB" features nine photos of Biryukova, according to Brandon Wade, the founder and CEO of the website.
"Pictures on her profile seem to resemble Julia Biryukova, and address provided as well as login records show it is from Washington state," Wade told ABC News affiliate KOMO. The profile was created on July 25.
Wade told the station investigators had requested information from his website last week.
Today Bellevue police would neither confirm nor deny their interest in the website, and refused to comment on its connection to Sky's disappearance.
"I don't want to talk about the specifics of that particular social media site," Bellevue police Maj. Mike Johnson said, but he did add investigators are examining social media websites.
Seekingarrangement.com claims to connect "modern sugar dadd[ies]" with "goal seeking sugar bab[ies]" for the purpose of forming a "mutually beneficial relationship."
The person known as "JB" wrote a profile requesting someone with "financial stability," who is a "successful mentor," and a "REAL man."
JB also asked for "US$3,001 - $5,000 monthly."
In the profile, JB, who claims to be from Redmond, Wash., also professes to "speak fluent Russian, Ukrainian and English."
Wade told the Associated Press the last time JB accessed the account was Oct. 26.
Biryukova is not considered a suspect, but police continue to scrutinize everything she had told them, as well as the timeline of events that occurred before police were notified about Sky's disappearance.
"We're all aware of some of the inconsistencies of Julia," said Johnson, referring to the discrepancies in her story. "She's someone we're looking at."
On Monday Johnson did not rule out the theory that Biryukova, who is in a bitter custody battle with her husband Solomon, may be trying to smuggle her son out of the country.
"There's a lot of work going on to rule out possible theories of abduction, coercion, the element of custody battle between mom and dad, secreting him outside the country, all of these are viable theories," Johnson said.
They are also aware that she might leave the country.
"It is something that's on our radar. We're watching for that," Johnson said.
Biryukova's husband, Solomon Metalwala, said Monday on "Good Morning America" he believes the boy's disappearance is related to a court decision granting him visitation rights.
"She has had Sky for the last 10 months so I believe that she does know something," he said on "GMA."
A team of more than 300 people including volunteers, police and FBI agents have spent the past 10 days searching for Sky.
