The Moment Powerball Jackpot Winning Ticket Was Bought in Tennessee
— -- The moment a winning Powerball jackpot ticket was purchased in a food mart in Munford, Tennessee, was captured on surveillance footage.
Little did the couple in the video know that the purchase would forever change their lives.
Lisa and John Robinson bought the winning ticket from Naifeh's Food Mart, according to Tennessee lottery officials, who confirmed the couple won one of three jackpot winning tickets.
John Robinson said he and his wife will take a lump sum cash payout of $328 million.
"We just wanted a little big piece of the pie," Lisa Robinson said. "Now we're real grateful we got the big piece of the pie."
The couple said they first plan to use the money to pay off their daughter's student loans.
However, they both plan to continue working at their current jobs and don't have any plans to move or buy a bigger house.
"Big fancy houses are nice but you’ve also got to clean them," John Robinson said.
Two other winning tickets were sold separately at a 7-Eleven in Chino Hills, California, and a Publix in Melbourne, Florida. Neither of the owners of those tickets had come forward to claim the prize money as of today.
The jackpot was $1.58 billion. Each winner is entitled to a $528,800,000 share if they choose the annuitized version. If they opt for the cash payout, they will receive $327,835,000 before taxes, according to Rebecca Hargrove, the president and CEO of the Tennessee lottery.
