— -- The National Football League has voted to relocate the St. Louis Rams to Los Angeles, and the San Diego Chargers have also been given an option to join them there, according to league Commissioner Roger Goodell.

A stadium that will house the Rams, which left LA in 1994, has yet to be built in Inglewood.

Earlier this month, Rams owner Stan Kroenke announced plans to build a stadium in the Los Angeles area. The Rams have been linked to a possible relocation to Los Angeles since January 2014, when Kroenke purchased a piece of land in Inglewood in between the Forum, where the Lakers used to play, and the old Hollywood Park racetrack.

The Rams, Chargers and Oakland Raiders all filed paperwork with the NFL earlier this month requesting permission to relocate to the Los Angeles area. The teams are currently housed in three of the oldest stadiums in the league.

The Oakland Raiders, which also used to play in LA, will remain in the Bay Area, but if the Chargers don't move to Los Angeles, the Raiders will have an option to go.

If neither the Raiders nor Chargers decide to move, they will receive $100 million from the NFL to improve their stadiums.
