— -- The Internet in North Korea has crashed for the second time in as many days, according to an Internet performance research company.

Monday's outage lasted for nine hours and 31 minutes, and today's shut down began around 3:40 p.m. local time, according to Dyn Research.

Dyn Research, an Internet management performance company that measures global Internet traffic, reported that the country's Internet was restored about a half hour later, at 4:12 p.m. local time.

The cause of the outages remains unclear, though it occurred shortly after a Twitter account claiming to represent the hacking group Anonymous declared vengeance against North Korea for their alleged involvement in the Sony hacking.

North Korea had been seen as the likely perpetrator of the hack against the movie giant for some time but late last week the U.S. government announced that they had found proof to support those claims.

Akamai Technologies, one of the world’s largest cloud service providers based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, tweeted a graph of North Korea’s Internet activity today, including two apparent disruptions.
