NYC Bakery Fries Up Thanksgivukkah Turkey Doughnuts
Nov. 7, 2013— -- Let the mazels begin. A New York City bakery has unveiled an unusual Thanksgivukkah treat to celebrate the rare collision of two food-centric holidays, Thanksgiving and Hanukkah.
Zucker Bakery, located in Manhattan, has debuted four versions of Thanksgivukkah doughnuts: Spiced pumpkin doughnuts with turkey and gravy filling, spiced pumpkin doughnuts with turkey and cranberry filling, spiced pumpkin doughnuts with cranberry sauce filling and sweet potato doughnuts with toasted marshmallow cream filling.

"We're a Jewish bakery serving Jewish style/Eastern European desserts," said Melissa Feit, a baker and co-owner at Zucker Bakery. "For Hannukah, a traditional food to have is doughnuts. But this year, for the first time in many years, Hanukkah is falling at the same time as Thanksgiving. So it became fun to try to figure this out."
The treats will officially go on sale this weekend, with prices ranging from $3.50 to $5, depending upon the filling. While the bakery does not currently offer shipping, Feit said that home cooks could try to conquer the sweet themselves.

"[The Thanksgivukkah doughnuts] can totally be made at home," she said. "The only thing is the deep frying, which a lot of people don't like to do at home."
Despite not officially going on sale yet, the Thanksgivukkah treats are already so popular that the bakery is considering selling them through the end of the year.
"The turkey is good, it really is," said Feit. "It's like when you are having all of the Thanksgiving side dishes at one time, and those are my favorite."
