Patriots Offer Fans Aaron Hernandez Jersey Trade
July 6, 2013— -- New England Patriots fans looking to get rid of their No. 81 Aaron Hernandez jerseys are in luck.
The New England Patriots ProShop is offering a free jersey exchange this weekend for anyone who bought a Hernandez jersey from their brick-and-mortar location in Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., or through its affiliated online store, ABC affiliate WCVB-TV in Boston reported.
Fans can trade the former tight end's jersey, who was arrested on murder charges, for a new Patriots jersey of comparable value.

"We know that children love wearing their Patriots jerseys, but may not understand why parents don't want them wearing their Hernandez jerseys anymore," New England Patriots spokesperson Stacey James told WCVB-TV. "We hope this opportunity to exchange those jerseys at the Patriots ProShop for another player's jersey will be well received by parents."
Meanwhile, Hernandez's jerseys are selling online for as much as twice their original cost.
