Pig Out on a Picnic (With Real Micro Pigs!)

If you find yourself in London this May, you could partake in this magical little piggy experience -- a pop-up “pignic” event -- where you can mingle with adorable micro pigs while enjoying a curated picnic, learn how to make a tasty pig-themed cocktail and enjoy a viewing of a delightful pig-themed film.
And try to contain your squeals because the piglets partaking in the “pignic” will be newborns.
“Our adorable litter of pigs aren't even born yet,” event organizers said in a statement. “They are due in April and then in May, when they're ready to be around people, they'll be smaller than rabbits. Awwww.”

The swine-filled soiree is hosted by Yelp UK and Petpiggies, a specialist breeder of micro pigs, to educate potential pig owners about the realistic expectations of becoming a pig parent.
“Micro pigs are very chic right now, but many people don't realize how big they can grow when they buy one and then, sadly, abandon them,” the statement said. “We think the first step to stopping this is education about micro pigs. We're also finalizing the details with an animal welfare charity to raise even more awareness, as well as money, as part of every ticket sale will be donated to them.”
The goal of the “pignic” is to “make it clear that a potential journey towards pet pig ownership must start with realistic size expectations," the statement added.
It’s still a mystery what specific foods will be served at the “pignic,” but needless to say, there will be “no pork products on the menu.”
The Proud Archivist, a canalside café and gallery in London, is not only preparing the adventurous, seasonal items but is also hosting the event, which takes place on May 21 and 22 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and also on May 23 to 25 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Spots are limited and will be chosen from the RSVP entry box a week before the event on May 14.
Don’t fret if you don’t get a spot to the actual celebration, however. Pig lovers can still see the precious little porkers on display any time during the five days from a giant window on Regents Canal.
