July 19, 2012, 3:24 PM

— -- American Crossroads, a super PAC supporting Mitt Romney's presidential campaign, announced Thursday a plan to spend $9.3 million on an ad campaign that defends Romney against President Barack Obama's criticisms of his business record.

The 30-second ad, which will run in nine swing states and begin airing on Friday, claims that Obama is targeting Romney's time as CEO of Bain Capital is an effort to distract from his own record during his first term as president.

"Barack Obama can't run on that record," a woman's voice says in the ad.

The price of the ad buy--$9.3 million--is more than Priorities Action USA, the main super PAC supporting Obama, raised in the entire month of June.
