March 7, 2012 — -- A shooting outside the Tulsa County Courthouse has left at least one Tulsa County deputy and as many as three other people injured.

A police car was involved in a crash and overturned while rushing to the courthouse.

The gunman has been taken into custody and is being taken to the hospital for an unknown injury, according to ABC News affiliate KTUL.

The gunfire erupted about 2:30 p.m. in the vicinity of the courthouse and the nearby Tulsa City-County Library, KTUL reported. A man reportedly went to the courthouse plaza and began shooting randomly.

Deputies inside the courthouse who heard the gunfire rushed outside and fired at the suspect. The suspect was hit at least once and a deputy was also shot, according to KTUL.

A representative of Tulsa's Emergency Medical Services Authority told the station that there were at least four victims--one male taken to St. John Medical Center in critical condition, another male taken to St. John in serious condition, a female taken to Saint Francis Hospital in fair condition, and a second female who was treated at the scene and refused transport.

One bloodied man was seen being carried out of a building on a stretcher with blood on his head and leg. Another man was brought out of another building with a bandage on his leg.

The area surrounding the courthouse has been closed to traffic.

A Tulsa police officer has been injured while responding to the scene. The officer came over a hill and a car pulled out in front of her cruiser, which was running with lights and sirens, according to KTUL. The officer swerved to avoid the car, causing the cruiser to overturn.

The officer was taken to a hospital to be checked out.
