Suspect arrested after 6 killed, including child, in Mississippi shooting spree
A 24-year-old man was arrested after allegedly shooting and killing six people — many of whom were the suspect's relatives and one of whom was a child — in Clay County, Mississippi, Friday night, according to investigators.
Daricka Moore will be charged with capital murder in connection with the mass killing that took place across three homes overnight, according to District Attorney Scott Colom.
"This is the worst one that I've seen in ten years," Colom told reporters.
Around 7:00 p.m. local time Friday, the suspect allegedly shot and killed his father, Glenn Moore, 67; his uncle, Willie Guines, 55; and his brother Quinten Moore, 33, in a house. The victims were all found shot in the head, investigators said.
The suspect allegedly stole his brother's pickup truck and drove to a second location. There, Moore allegedly shot and killed an unidentified 7-year-old child, who was also related to the suspect, according to investigators.
The suspect then drove to a third location where investigators say he allegedly shot and killed Barry and Samuel Bradley. Their ages and relation to the suspect weren't immediately available.
Officers were able to find the suspect at an intersection and he was taken into custody without incident, according to officials.
A motive has yet to be determined, investigators say.
Attorney information for Moore was not immediately available. He’s scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on Monday.
