— -- A man confessed to shooting a 4-year-old girl in connection with a road rage incident in Albuquerque, New Mexico, police said.

Tony Torrez, 32, was charged with the murder of Lilly Garcia, who died Tuesday from a gunshot wound to the head. The shooting happened along I-40 in Albuquerque.

Torrez was taken into custody Wednesday, after police received an anonymous tip. Albuquerque police chief Gorden Eden, Jr., speaking at a press conference, said Torrez confessed to shooting Garcia and had been charged in her murder.

Lilly's father Alan Garcia, who was driving the vehicle at the time of the shooting, spoke to ABC News about his family's heartbreak.

"She was so proud to tell people she just turned four," Garcia told ABC. "She just started school two days ago. She was very bright and very smart."

"She is my world," he said.

Police in Albuquerque also arrested a suspect -- later identified as Davon Lymon, 34 -- in the Wednesday shooting of a police officer, who was critically injured, authorities said. The officer is an eight-year veteran of the department. It appears the officer was engaged in a traffic stop when there was an altercation, Eden said. The officer was shot multiple times.
