Trump Considering Ex-Ford CEO Alan Mulally for Secretary of State
— -- Donald Trump's list of potential picks for secretary of state continues to grow -- and among the choices is former Ford Motor Company CEO Alan Mulally, ABC News has learned.
Mulally, who met with Trump in New York Thursday, joins ExxonMobile CEO Rex Tillerson as candidates for state who come from the business world and have no government experience.
Today Trump also met with retired Adm. James Stavridis, once eyed by Hillary Clinton as a potential running mate, for the top diplomat role.
He remains on the expanded list, along with former Massachusetts governor and former Trump rival Mitt Romney, according to multiple sources. Romney has faced strong opposition from inside Trump's inner circle, the sources say.
In an interview Wednesday, Trump said he was still considering Romney and that it was not "about revenge."
Also still on the list? Rudy Giuliani, John Bolton, and Sen. Bob Corker of Tennessee.
Asked if he's crossed anyone off yet, Trump said Wednesday, "I think I have in my own mind." It's unclear who, though.
He added that he is "fairly close" to a decision on a Secretary of State that could be announced next week.
