US Rappers Use North Korea for a Video Shoot
Nov. 30, 2013 — -- A pair of U.S. rappers say they have filmed a music video while on a trip to North Korea.
Dontray Ennis and Anthony Bobb, known as Peso and Pacman, spoke to reporters after arriving in Beijing from North Korea.
"Nobody shot a video in North Korea, let alone thought of it," said Ennis of being probably the first U.S. rappers to shoot a video in North Korea. "Nobody even thought of making a video in North Korea. You know what I'm saying?"
The duo from the Washington D.C. area used the crowd funding site Kickstarter to help finance their trip, raising more than $10,000.
According to a promotional video on their Kickstarter page, before this trip the furthest Bobb, 18, had been from Washington D.C. was Pennsylvania and the furthest Ennis, 19, had been was New Jersey.

The pair traveled to North Korea on a trip organized by a tour group specializing in bringing Westerners to the country. Prior to leaving they said they were not afraid of travelling to the highly-isolated country.
"Everywhere you go is dangerous, you know what I'm saying," Ennis said in their promotional video.
When the duo arrived at the Beijing airport, they did not say where the music video was filmed. But according to their Kickstarter page, the rappers' guide planned to have them shoot the video on a karaoke party bus in Pyongyang.
Although U.S. relations with North Korea remain fraught, especially after the detainment of an 85-year-old U.S. Korean War veteran earlier this month, Ennis and Bobb shied away from political questions in Beijing.
"I mean we did not go there to be political. We just go down there to shoot our video and that about the reason why we went, not political," said Bobb.
The duo plans to release their music video in December along with their first musical release called "Coming Soon."
