— -- The suspect in the case of missing University of Virginia student Hannah Graham was returned to Charlottesville, Virginia, this evening after being arrested in Texas, a Charlottesville city spokeswoman said.

Jesse Matthew, 32, was arrested in Galveston, Texas, on Wednesday and then held by Texas authorities for two days. After waiving extradition hearings, he was transferred from the custody of a Texas jail to Virginia law enforcement officers today, authorities told ABC News.

Investigators from Charlottesville arrived in Texas Thursday to meet with Matthew, who is charged with abduction with intent to defile Graham. He reportedly refused to speak during that meeting, but officials said investigators were able to speak with Matthew later Thursday and again today.

This undated photo provided by the City of Charlottesville, Va. on Friday, Sept. 26, 2014 shows Jesse Leroy Matthew Jr. Matthew, 32, is suspect in the Sept. 13, 2014 disappearance of University of Virginia student Hannah Graham.

"Matthew ... was flown into the Charlottesville-Albemarle Regional airport at approximately 5:45 p.m. today," Charlottesville city spokeswoman Miriam I. Dickler said in a written statement. "He was brought to the Charlottesville Police Department and then taken to the Charlottesville-Albemarle Regional Jail, where he was held with no bond. He is expected to have a bond hearing in the Charlottesville General District Court on Thursday Oct. 2."

Matthew was spotted camping out on the beach in Galveston by a woman who called police who took him into custody.

Matthew was the last person seen on surveillance video on the night Graham vanished two weeks ago.
