White House releases report of Trump's physical exam
The White House has released a memo detailing the results of President Donald Trump's recent physical exam, with the president's physician writing that Trump is in "excellent health."
In the memo released by the White House, U.S. Navy Capt. Sean Barbabella, physician to the president, wrote: "President Donald Trump remains in excellent health, demonstrating strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and overall physical function."
Trump visited Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Tuesday.
The visit Tuesday, which took about 3 and 1/2 hours, was Trump's third scheduled medical appointment at Walter Reed in 13 months.
"Just finished my 6 month physical at Walter Reed Military Medical Center. Everything checked out PERFECTLY," the president wrote on his social media platform following the visit. "Thank you to the great Doctors and Staff!"
Trump turns 80 next month.
Last summer, Trump was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency after appearing with swollen ankles and legs.
The physician's report said "slight lower leg swelling was noted, with improvement from last year."
The physician noted that the president experiences bruising on his hands, which the White House has attributed to shaking hands while taking aspirin for his condition.
The president's vitals, examinations and lab results all appeared normal, according to the report.
A 3D scan of the president’s heart did not show any abnormalities, according to the report.
The report also noted he scored a 30 out of 30 on a cognitive assessment.
The report stated: "Preventive counseling was provided, including guidance on diet, recommendation to take a low-dose aspirin, increased physical activity, and continued weight loss."
According to the report, Trump is taking a total of three medications, including aspirin for cardiac prevention and two medications -- Rosuvastatin and Ezetimibe -- for cholesterol control.
