On Wednesday, the company announced its next generation, the Oura Ring 5, "designed to wear like jewelry," according to Oura's website. It's thinner, lighter and 40% smaller than the previous Oura Ring 4, with prices starting at $399.
The latest ring tracks over 50 health metrics "with research-grade accuracy for a clearer view of your holistic health and well-being." It is waterproof, scratch-resistant and available in six finishes, including a redesigned gold finish and a new deep rose. Sizing differs from the other Oura models, so use a free sizing kit to find your best fit.
"Oura Ring 5 is the most significant leap in smart ring history. To make something 40 percent smaller without sacrificing an ounce of accuracy, we had to rethink every assumption — the sensors, the battery, the architecture, the geometry of the ring itself,” said Holly Shelton, chief product officer at Oura, in a press release. “The result is the most capable wearable we’ve ever made—small enough to fit seamlessly into everyday life, and significant enough to set a new standard.”
Among other advancements, Oura is introducing a new live activity tracking experience that provides key metrics, like pace and distance, in real time. There is also a new portable charging case for the Oura Ring 5 that stores one month of battery.
