Emerging fashion trends haven't exactly taken center stage in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. However, there is one sweet look that the internet can't get enough of: "the strawberry dress."

If you watched this year's Grammys you might have noticed body-positive advocate Tess Holiday wear the pink, flowy frock sprinkled with glittery strawberry embroidery in January.

She also recently reposted her strawberry dress moment with an eye-opening caption saying, "I like how this dress had me on worst dressed lists when I wore it in January to the Grammys, but now bc a bunch of skinny ppl wore it on TikTok everyone cares. To sum it up: our society hates fat people, especially when we are winning."

She concluded her statement by thanking the designer of the dress, Lirika Matoshi, and fashion stylist Meaghan O'Connor for making her feel like a princess for the affair.

Holiday's head-turning post was met with mixed opinions. Some agreed with her and others still weren't huge fans of the look.

"Worst dressed!?!!! Laughable. You look DIVINE," one person commented. Another chimed in with opposing feelings saying, "honey u were on worst dressed because you wore a cottagecore picnic dress to the GRAMMYS."

Whether or not people loved the dress on Holiday, there has been a sudden spark in interest surrounding it.

Since July, Google Trends shows that there has been a 100% upswing in interest for "the strawberry dress." It continued to rise thanks to social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

The popular Lirika Matoshi Strawberry Midi Dress retails for $490 and can be preordered in sizes extra small to extra-extra large. It's made of 100% polyamide tulle, PVC glitter and environmental-protection glue, according to the brand's website.

Additionally, the dress features a deep-V plunging neckline along with tie-details and puffy sleeves.

"Most of my designs are inspired by my childhood," Matoshi told Vogue. "I feel like the things that make me feel better are the strawberries, the dress, the gowns, nature in general."

Fashion blogger Blair Eadie posted a photo of herself wearing the showstopping dress in March and received more than 57,000 likes from fans of her look.

Several artists have also begun creating alluring illustrations of characters wearing the dress.
