— -- Disneyland resort is just days away from unveiling a brand-new fireworks spectacular.

On May 22, 'Disneyland Forever' will debut and ABC News got an exclusive look at the preparations that have been underway for weeks.

Watch as John Addis, show director of Walt Disney Creative Entertainment, takes viewers into the park after closing to explain why mapping and color correction are so important to getting the show just right for guests.

The show has a total of 25 video projectors. Addis said one goal of Disneyland Forever was to bring the traditional fireworks display down to the people.

"Not only is this a fireworks show," said Joseph Peters, technical director of Walt Disney Creative Entertainment, "but there are multiple other elements involved. There's smoke effects and lighting effects."

"We're getting closer and progress is being made," said Peters. "The hardest part is the early steps when it's just baby steps and you don't see a lot going on, but now things are all coming together and we're really looking forward to the opening day when our guests get to view this brand-new fireworks extravaganza."

Watch "Good Morning America" on Thursday at 7 a.m. ET with Jesse Palmer live from Disneyland.
