State significance
Missouri has been a reliable red state in recent presidential elections. Former President Donald Trump won the state in 2016 and 2020, defeating President Joe Biden in the last presidential election by 16 percentage points.
ABC News projects that Republican Sen. Josh Hawley beat out Democratic candidate Lucas Kunce in his quest for a second term in the U.S. Senate.
On the House side, voters determined who represents the state's eight congressional districts.
ABC News projects that that Missouri residents voted to legalize abortion up until fetal viability and override the state's current ban on nearly all abortions.
Counties are colored red or blue when the % expected vote reporting reaches a set threshold. This threshold varies by state and is based on patterns of past vote reporting and expectations about how the vote will report this year.
