South Dakota Sen. John Thune, considered a possible contender to become Mitt Romney's running mate, recently met with the campaign aide in charge of the vice presidential vetting process, The Hill reports. From The Hill's Alexander Bolton: In an interview with The Hill, Thune acknowledged he's been to Boston to meet Romney's senior advisers and has met Beth Myers, who is leading the search for the vice presidential nominee. Thune will no longer say whether he is being vetted, a telling distinction from a month ago when he freely admitted to The Hill that no one from Romney's vetting team had contacted him. Romney remains vague about when he will make his announcement, but according to the New York Times, close friends of the candidate say they believe he has made a decision and could roll out the ticket as early as this week.
