Major retailers Dick’s Sporting Goods and Modell’s both confirmed to ABC News they pulled their Ray Rice jerseys from the shelves, and the athlete's jerseys vanished from Nike’s website and NFL’s online shop.
Rutgers University, Rice's alma mater, removed him from the \"Knights in the NFL\" video shown before games.
“He is out of that,” Rutgers’ chief spokesman, Pete McDonough, told ABC News, adding that the school is culling through its other promotional material to make Rice won't appear in any of them.
The Ravens announced Rice's suspension today after video surfaced of him punching now wife Janay Palmer in the face, knocking her out in the elevator of the since-shuttered Revel Casino Hotel in Atlantic City.
Rice and his lawyers have not commented today.
The NFL originally gave Rice a two-game suspension for the incident. Before the team's decision today to cut Rice and the NFL's subsequent announcement that his suspension is now indefinite, football players sounded off on Twitter to protest:
