The National Hockey League's puzzling outbreak of the mumps has now reached the league's biggest star. Sidney Crosby has the vaccine-preventable disease. The Pittsburgh Penguins announced the diagnosis in a news release Sunday morning. According to the release, Crosby will be "monitored daily, but specialists believe he should be through the infectious period by Monday." Crosby was held out of the Penguins' past two games for "precautionary reasons" while the team awaited additional test results. His initial test came back negative, a source told ESPN.com. He will also miss the team's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday night. Crosby received a booster shot against the virus before he traveled to Russia for the Winter Olympics in February, and initial tests a couple of weeks ago indicated Crosby was not in any danger.
