The dog had been with the sheriff's office since 2009, working as a Narcotics Detection Dog. Argo was credited with “taking thousands of pounds of dangerous drugs off of our streets as well as the apprehension of many dangerous felons.” He was partnered with Lieutenant Francisco Guerrero. Neither Guerrero nor the sheriff’s office responded to ABC News’ request for comment.

Argo will be honored publicly on Nov. 10 at the HCSO First Annual South Texas K9 Competition.
