“Affirmative action has proven to be one of the most effective ways to create diverse and inclusive classrooms,” Garcia continued. “But by telling schools and universities that they should not use affirmative action to achieve inclusive classrooms, the Education Department has again failed our students.”
In a statement, the former head of the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division Vanita Gupta said that because of the policy shift \"the Trump administration is once again failing in its responsibility for the well-being of all students by tossing aside diversity and inclusion--core American values.\"
