The French president declined to directly address the incident while talking to the press on Sunday, but said that “what made it possible for me to fight and win against Marine le Pen –- in the 2017 French presidential election -- and for me to be here today, is that I love every child of the republic, regardless of the mistakes they made.\"

Macron, 40, also said that he would continue to meet the crowds during his travels, despite political criticism.
