\"Many thanks to @Google for commemorating Steve’s life so beautifully on this special day,\" Irwin's wife, Terri, wrote on Twitter.

In a blog post for Google, Terri Irwin expanded on the meaning of the special day to her family.

\"We are so proud that his legacy lives on, as that was his greatest wish,\" she wrote. \"He once said, 'I don’t care if I’m remembered, as long as my message is remembered.'\"
