Economic ripple effects of the strike have been felt by GM workers in Canada, where hundreds were temporarily laid off at a GM plant in Oshawa as a result of the strike. GM suppliers have also said they are monitoring the negotiations closely to see if they have to reduce their workforce if the strike continues.
