Costabile later shared his wife's announcement on his personal account, adding, \"It’s been a rough couple weeks and we’re so grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers from you all.\"

Stillbirth, defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as the \"loss of a baby at or after 20 weeks of pregnancy,\" is considered by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists to be \"one of the most common adverse pregnancy outcomes.\" It affects 1 in 160 deliveries in the United States every year, or about 23,600 babies.

Perri announced her pregnancy in July, sharing at the time that she was due in January. She first revealed she was experiencing pregnancy complications in a message on Nov. 10.

\"Baby is having an issue, so I'm gonna be here till it's time for baby to come out,\" the \"Human\" singer shared via her Instagram stories. \"Which might have to be very soon. Which is very early.\"

Throughout her hospitalization, the singer remained open about the scare. On Nov. 11, she shared in a tweet, \"I’m able to go home and monitor baby closely. baby will still have some challenging issues when they arrive but hopefully i can stay pregnant a bit longer.\"

She also revealed that her baby would require surgery after being born due to a lingering complication.

The singer previously revealed in January that she had suffered a miscarriage. \"Baby was 11 weeks old,\" she wrote in a message on Twitter. \"We are shocked & completed heartbroken.\"

She said she was revealing the personal news because she wanted to \"continue to help change the story & stigma around miscarriage, secrecy and shame.\"

\"I am so sad but not ashamed,\" she added. \"I am ever reminded how amazing and powerful women are at making life and at healing. To all the mothers who have been here and who will be here, I see you and I love you.\"

Perri and Costabile also have a 2-year-old daughter, Carmella.
