Answer: The two major treatment recommendations are either breast conserving surgery and whole breast radiation, which takes about six weeks' time to deliver for the patient as an outpatient, or simple mastectomy often with breast reconstruction. There are some other options that are being looked into. We have research ongoing to see if there are selected patients who may not need radiation, and there is also research ongoing looking at the role of tamoxifen for the management of this disease as well.
