The patient had been admitted to the hospital after arriving at the emergency room Monday with “a high fever and gastrointestinal symptoms,” according to a hospital statement.

The unidentified patient had been put into an isolation ward as a precaution since he had recently traveled to a West African country and had a fever.

According to the hospital, the patient was in stable condition and was continuing to improve.

The early symptoms of Ebola -- including fever, muscle weakness and headaches -- are similar to many other illnesses making it difficult for medical professionals to rule out the disease in early stages.
