A U.S. official told ABC News that U.S. fighter jets stationed in the United Kingdom and Germany are being sent to the Middle East.

They include F-16’s stationed in Germany and F-35 fighters stationed in the U.K., according to the official.

Air & Space Forces Magazine was first to report the deployment of additional fighters to the Middle East.

There are currently 50,000 U.S. troops in the Middle East.

United States forces conducted another wave of attacks against Iran Sunday evening, marking the ninth consecutive night of strikes, according to U.S. Central Command.

"The strikes will continue degrading Iranian military capabilities used to attack commercial vessels and civilian mariners transiting the Strait of Hormuz," CENTCOM said.

Strikes targeted "Iranian military command centers, air defense and coastal surveillance sites, maritime capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and communications networks," in an effort to weaken Iran's ability to control the Strait of Hormuz, CENTCOM said. 

A U.S. service member was killed and another wounded Saturday during what U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) called "a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian one-way attack drone" in northern Iraq.

The wounded service member's injury was "minor," according to CENTCOM.

Saturday's death brings to 17 the total number of U.S. service members who have been killed since the war in Iran began.

CENTCOM also released an update on the U.S. service member who was reported missing on Friday.

"After a thorough search, U.S. military personnel found unidentified remains at the location earlier today. An examination process to verify the remains is ongoing," CENTCOM said.

Jordan’s army said in a statement posted online Sunday that three missiles launched from Iran fell in several locations in the country.

No casualties were reported, the statement said.

Jordan’s state news agency says three missiles were intercepted by air defense systems and a fourth missile landed in a remote area in southern Jordan.

The IDF also released a statement saying they "identified the launch of missiles from Iran toward the city of Aqaba in Jordan, adjacent to Israel."

Interceptors were launched toward missile debris to prevent threats to Israeli territory and as a result, interceptor fragments fell near Eilat, the IDF said.

No damage or injuries were reported in that attack, according to the IDF.

In a statement carried by the semi-official Tasnim News Agency, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed to have intercepted four commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz in the early hours of Sunday.

The IRGC said all four ships turned off their navigation systems and ignored IRGC warnings with the "support of American" forces. "Two of them had an accident and stopped in place, and the other two refused to continue the route," the statement said.

The IRGC claimed that its navy was in "complete control" of the Strait.
