The high-stakes midterm elections are a day away, and candidates are making their final pitches to voters.

There are several key House and Senate races that could determine the balance of power in Congress as well as significant races for governor around the country. The elections could ultimately determine how effective President Donald Trump's agenda is in the back half of his second term.

Trump said on Sunday in Iowa that the Reflecting Pool was "finished." Asked why he was going there on Monday, Trump said in part that it was "just to show how beautiful it is."

The president is then scheduled to join seven additional tele-rallies in the afternoon and into the evening, the White House said.

Trump weighs in on candidate Ashley Hinson's weight and physique during Iowa rally

President Donald Trump again found himself discussing the body and weight of another Republican candidate for Senate on Sunday during a rally in Iowa -- this time that of Iowa's GOP nominee Ashley Hinson.

"You know what I respect about her -- I shouldn't say this. It's inappropriate," Trump began. "Now, Ashley said, 'Please, sir, don't do this.'"

"I knew Ashley for a long time, and she was a little bit heavier, okay? She knew the weight that was on her. Really, literally, the weight," the president continued.

"And she went out the old-fashioned way to not with -- you know -- give me a shot," he went on.

"Ashley knew the importance of what this was and how important it was and boy she put herself -- She went on a regimen. She put herself in shape," Trump said of Hinson. "She's in perfect shape. She was good. I thought- she was great the other way. But she put herself in shape and she did that for you. She knows the importance and I think it's great," Trump said.

The president's comments come as he has repeatedly spoken out about the physique of Ohio Senator John Husted, whose body Trump has complimented many times since hitting the campaign trail last month.

Trump continues to sow election doubts as he makes closing arguments to voters

President Donald Trump delivered a grievance-filled stump speech in Dubuque, Iowa, on Sunday, just two days out from the critical midterm elections that will decide the future of his administration's agenda.

Throughout his two-hour-long speech, Trump sought to sow doubt in Tuesday’s elections, calling various states “crooked” and “corrupt” and claiming that Democrats “have to cheat” to win.

“I hope our candidate does well, but they’re totally crooked,” Trump said as he discussed Minnesota. “Minnesota is so corrupt. Maine is very corrupt. California. Forget about it,” he said.

“Look, they’ll try figuring something, but it’s much harder because they have to cheat. Because without. Look, their policies are so bad,” Trump added later while discussing implementing paper ballots instead of machines for voting.

According to the Brennan Center for Justice, extensive research reveals that fraud is very rare, voter impersonation is virtually nonexistent and many instances of alleged fraud are, in fact, mistakes by voters or administrators.

Trump attacks El-Sayed during stump speech in Iowa

Speaking in Dubuque, Iowa, on Sunday, Trump repeatedly discussed Michigan's Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed. He told the crowd that Congress would need to install a "special metal detector" for him.

Trump has repeatedly attacked El-Sayed for his Muslim faith and consistently refers to him as a "jihadist."

“We’ll have to put him through metal detectors in order to seat. He’ll be -- we’ll have 100 senators and most of them can go direct. We’re going to have to get a special metal detector for Abdul,” Trump said.

At one point, as he discussed Rep. Haley Stevens’ endorsement of Republican Mike Rogers, he implied that she won the primary contest that she, in fact, lost to El-Sayed.

“If you remember, she was going to be like 25 points down, everybody thought it was going to be a walk -- a lot of people think she won,” Trump said. He praised Stevens' endorsement on Sunday, saying, "She showed great and almost unprecedented loyalty to the great people of Michigan, and that’s another important election for us. We don’t want to have a jihadist.”
