Sean Combs trial reaches an end with mixed verdict

The highly anticipated trial of hip-hop mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs has reached an end.

The jury found Sean Combs not guilty of racketeering conspiracy, the most serious charge.

The jury found Combs guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution (in connection with his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura) and guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution (in connection with his ex-girlfriend who testified under the pseudonym "Jane").

He was found not guilty of both charges of sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion in connection with Ventura and "Jane."

Combs was accused of being the ringleader of an alleged enterprise that "abused, threatened and coerced women" into prolonged, drug-fueled sexual orgies with male prostitutes, which he called "freak-offs," and then threatened them into silence. Combs has said that all of the sex was consensual and that while his relationships sometimes involved domestic violence, he wasn't engaged in trafficking.

Combs' lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, said Combs was simply part of the swinger lifestyle and that he "vehemently denies the accusations made by the SDNY."

'Jane' tells court male escorts came to her birthday: 'I didn’t expect that'

In her testimony, "Jane" could not recall how many different men she was paired with during her relationship with Sean Combs.

She was shown photos of men she identified as Don, Paul, Leo and Michael.

There was also a photo of a man whose name she could not remember but she did testify, "I was immediately repulsed by him."

She told the court Combs brought the man to L'Ermitage in Beverly Hills.

"I just remember that he was really sweaty and I saw he didn't look nice and kinda smelled. I was just hesitant with him," Jane testified. "I just tried to make it work. I tried to kind of seduce him with my body and try to make some sort of attraction happen and I just remember him sweating so much."

She testified she was "throwing looks at my partner like I wasn't feeling this" but "Sean saying, 'If I want to taste it' and I was trying to move around that subject."

She testified Combs "laid me down and started having sex with me" while the other man was "hovering on top of me by my face."

"He was telling me to look at it. And I just remember this man sweating on me," "Jane" told the court.

She testified Combs stopped having sex with me, excused the man and then told her a different man, Paul, was coming in.

"Jane" testified Paul was Combs' personal trainer. She told the court she remembered participating in "hotel nights" with Paul in Los Angeles, Miami and Turks and Caicos.

The last time she saw him was July 2024, "Jane" told the court, testimony that seems to suggest Combs was engaging in this conduct while he was under federal investigation.

"Jane" gave tearful, anguished testimony about her birthday in 2023 when she testified she was made to have sex with three different men in addition to Combs.

She testified Combs invited her to Miami for her birthday, telling the court "I expected just quality time with my partner."

At dinner at Nobu, she testified Combs brought up entertaining another man.

"I just gulped. I had this gulp moment like something was stuck in my throat because I didn't expect that," "Jane" testified. "He said 'Well it's your birthday. I thought you wanted to have fun. You should try something new for your birthday,'"

"Jane" began to break down on the witness stand as she told the jury, "I just accepted it."

Prosecutor Maurene Comey asked, "Why?" "Jane" told the court, "I don't know," lamenting, "It had become so routine."

"Jane" began sniffling, wiping her nose and eyes as she testified she turned "robotic."

"I just feel like at this point I had done so many of these that I just know how to just tune out and get in a zone. And I just know what my partner likes to see, and I just turn on this person and I just begin," "Jane" told the court.

As she was about to have sex with the male escort, "Jane" testified she asked Combs for a condom.

"He was very upset. Behind this man I remember Sean giving me these really bad looks, these really dirty looks, like 'You better not ask for a f------ condom,'" "Jane" testified. "He hated it. He was walking away, like so disinterested. He just made me feel really, really bad. I just wanted it to be over."

When the sex ended, "Jane" told the court she and Combs moved to a bigger suite.

"I remember Sean was, he shifted his energy, he was celebratory. He had a surprise for me at the table. There was cake, flowers, I think there was another bracelet, balloons. He made that suite look really nice for me. We had that rare bit of alone time," "Jane" testified.

Then another man entered the room, according to her testimony.

She tearfully testified "just doing so much, just going back and forth between the men."

According to testimony, by the time that man left, it was morning and Combs told her, "Don was coming."

She told the jury she reacted like it was nothing but "inside, I hated it."

Comey asked, "Why did you react like it was nothing if you hated it?" "Jane" could not get through her answer.

"Did Don end up coming?" Comey asked.

"Yes," Jane testified. "We had sex."

Comey asked for the lunch break and escorted Jane from the witness box. Combs appeared to glance at her as she walked from the courtroom.

'Jane' testifies Combs still pays her rent as court adjourns

Sean Combs is still paying the monthly rent for "Jane’s" Los Angeles home, she told the jury Friday.

"Jane" testified Combs began giving her a monthly allowance of $10,000 in March 2023 that she used for rent.

She moved into the house the following month and said Combs is still paying for her to live there, according to her testimony.

Each subsequent time she saw Combs after the monthly checks began, "Jane" testified, “I would be with him and another man.”

"Jane" testified Combs did not like her teeth and made her get veneers and threw his generosity in her face in a text message that August.

“Look at the roof over your head and that pretty smile,” the message said.

Repeatedly, the jury has seen messages in which Jane told Combs about the toll prolonged sexual performances were taking.

“My body hit a wall,” "Jane" said in one message from August 2023.

Combs’ initial response was sympathetic but, an hour later, sent a message saying, “Rico’s free.”

"Jane" then texted him a picture of a bloody tissue as evidence that her period had started.

“I needed to prove to him my hesitation was real,” "Jane" testified. A subsequent text said, “We should just postpone.”

The jury saw how Combs responded. “You have had your period so many times before,” his message said.

“You acting weird as f---.” The message continued, “I don’t believe this fake ass s---.”

"Jane" sent a photo of a bloody tampon.

“Why would you send Sean a picture of a bloody tampon?” prosecutor Maurene Comey asked.

“I wanted to prove to him I really wasn’t available,” "Jane" testified.

She sent Combs a text message the following day saying in part, “I’m not a sex robot.”

Their argument, over text, included a voice note from Combs played for the jury.

“I’m about to really about to disappear on you. I’m not going to be playing these games with you,” the voice note said. “I can’t do this s--- with you each time you get upset.”

Jane responded, “You’ve been making things completely transactional…you’ve been threatening me any chance you get…this s--- is sick.”

She explained to the jury that “Sean was just hovering the house over my head, just always brought it up in so many ways. It just always felt like he wanted me to know that he was doing this for me."

"Jane’s" testimony, at turns anguished, distressing and raw, concludes four weeks of testimony. She will be back on the witness stand Monday.

Court is adjourned for the weekend.

'Jane' tells the court about having unexpected 'hotel night' while on vacation with Combs

In February 2023, "Jane" and Sean Combs took a short break from their relationship, according to her testimony.

She told the jury she had spent her birthday that year being made to have sex with three male prostitutes allegedly at Combs' behest and then saw on Instagram how Combs shortly thereafter celebrated the birthday of another woman he was seeing by decorating a private plane.

She sent him several text messages which were presented in court.

One asked, "When are we having a getaway? You've promised me this for years. I want to get out of hotels."

Another said, "I didn't want to do all of that on my birthday. You knew how tired I was."

"Jane" began crying on the witness stand, telling the jury, "he knew that after three guys I was tired."

The jury then saw how Combs responded: "I'm tired of you throwing sex in my face," his message said. "Let's just be friends."

"Jane" testified that she collected her thoughts for these text messages by keeping notes on her phone. She read some of them for the jury.

"You lie straight to my face…all you want is another hotel night like you've been doing for two years…you lied because you wanted to use me for the night…you lied so you could use me for that night…you lied and said you had no time for me because you were stressed with work," one of her notes said. "You used me up for another hotel night…anything outside these hotels I'm a joke to you."

A couple weeks later, Combs invited her to Turks and Caicos. She flew to Miami to meet him in advance, according to "Jane's" testimony.

The jury saw a text Combs sent.

"Plan a night of debauchery and fun and then straight to the airport, straight to the beach. What you think," the message said. "Jane" said, "I just want us."

According to "Jane's" testimony, Combs agreed and she believed there would be no hotel night in Miami.

"Did that turn out to be true," prosecutor Maurene Comey asked.

"No," "Jane" testified. They went to the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Miami where she told the court Don showed up.

"I think I just grew accustomed to the rhythm of things," "Jane" testified.

They then flew to Turks and Caicos where, after one night together, "Jane" said Paul showed up.

A 24-hour hotel night ensued, "Jane" testified. After the 4th round of sexual activity she said she could no longer continue.

"It was just really painful," "Jane" told the court. She threw a bracelet Combs had given her and stormed off, according to testimony.

"I remember him saying, 'Are you crazy? How could you make me look like that in front of Paul?'" "Jane" testified.

"If you had known Paul had been on the Turks trip would you have gone?" Comey asked. "No," "Jane" testified.

Jury sees 'Jane' arguing with Combs in text messages and notes on her phone

A few months into their relationship, in November 2021, "Jane" told the court she sent Sean Combs several text messages after seeing things he posted on Instagram.

"I was feeling bad that I went on a trip with Sean and it turned into a hotel night and when I was home, I could see he was with another woman doing all this quality time," "Jane" testified. "I thought he wanted to see me and instead I ended up in a hotel for two days."

The jury saw "Jane's" text message to Combs: "I need a breather and a break from you, this doesn't make me feel good. Your true intentions with me are in plain sight."

Combs responded using a voice note, played for the jury, his voice booming through the courtroom: "You're flipping out on me because somebody came to work out with me. You're f------ nuts."

"Jane" replied with a text: "Ain't nobody just come to work out. Stop lying. Funny thing is I don't even care," the message said. "You just want the hotel s---."

Another text exchange followed a later birthday.

She testified Combs promised to take her to dinner and hang out. Instead, "Jane" told the court she ended up having intercourse with another man Combs introduced her to.

After her birthday, "Jane" told the jury she saw on Instagram how Combs prepared a birthday celebration for a different woman that included a private jet and an island villa.

"I don't know how we're going to make it out of this ok, Sean," "Jane's" text message read, before she confronted him with everything she saw online.

"Jane" testified she kept notes on her phone to organize her feelings. The jury saw several of them.

"You hurt my feelings every time you dismiss me," the note said. "I don't know what you're calling me for. I'm sorry I don't want to do drugs for days and days and have you use me for your creepy, wild desires."

Attorney for 'Jane' says social media posts 'threaten her safety'

During a break, an attorney representing Jane informed the court that there are social media accounts and websites that are seeking to reveal Jane’s true identity.

The attorney said she is documenting posts and monitoring livestreams that may be violating the court’s pseudonym order.

“These posts threaten her safety,” the attorney said.

The attorney said it does not appear the individuals responsible are in the courthouse but the judge said he would consider any application for additional restrictions on disclosing identifiable information.
