Rhode Island travel ban to remain in effect

Rhode Island's travel ban will remain in effect and be reassessed Tuesday morning, Gov. Dan McKee announced.

The travel ban restricts all motor vehicle travel on all roads statewide.

Restoring power will be a "multi-day process" due to the difficulty in getting around, Rhode Island Energy President Gregory Cornett said during a press briefing Monday, as more than 42,000 customers remain without power in the state.

Travel ban for 'hard-hit' area of Massachusetts: Governor

Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey said Monday afternoon she has instituted a travel ban for parts of the south coast and Cape Cod.

"We needed to do this because this is a particularly hard-hit area, we need to have the ability for all essential vehicle travel to be able to go through and anybody who doesn't need to be on the road should not be on the road," Healey said during a press briefing.

The travel ban is in effect for Plymouth, Bristol and Barnstable counties, the governor said.

New Jersey travel ban extended to noon, Hoboken's ban extended to 4 pm

New Jersey’s travel ban, which began at 9 p.m. Sunday, will now remain in effect until noon on Monday, police announced.

"Residents are urged to avoid all non-essential travel until the restriction is lifted," police said.
