Amy Winehouse Cancels All '07 Commitments

Nov. 27, 2007 — -- Battling health problems and broken up about her husband's stint in jail, British singer Amy Winehouse has canceled the remainder of her tour and promotional appearances for 2007.

In a statement released to ABC News, the 24-year-old singer said she "can't give it my all onstage without my Blake."

"I'm so sorry but I don't want to do the shows half-heartedly; I love singing," the statement continued. "My husband is everything to me and without him it's just not the same."

Winehouse's 25-year-old husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, is in custody in the U.K. on charges of beating up a bartender and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. He is due to remain in custody until Jan. 18.

The singer's record label claims she canceled her performances on the instruction of her doctor.

"Amy Winehouse has canceled all remaining live and promotional appearances for the remainder of the year on the instruction of her doctor," Island Records said in a statement.

"The rigors involved in touring and the intense emotional strain that Amy has been under in recent weeks have taken their toll. In the interests of her health and well-being, Amy has been ordered to take complete rest and deal with her health issues," the statement continued.

The rising star with a soulful voice appeared distressed and out-of-it in the few public appearances she's made recently. At the MTV Europe Music Awards earlier this month, Winehouse stumbled and mumbled her way through a performance of "Back to Black." Accepting the Artists' Choice award, she merely muttered "thanks" and walked off stage.

Winehouse has professed her penchant for alcohol and drugs in the past -- she sang about not wanting to go to rehab in her breakout hit -- and her partying appears to have caught up with her over the past few months.

Last week, Winehouse's tour manager quit claiming the singer smoked so much heroin that he tested positive for the drug just by inhaling her secondhand smoke.

In October, Winehouse was arrested in Norway for marijuana possession. In August, she was hospitalized for "severe exhaustion," according to her record label, and spent a short stint in a rehab facility.
