Adele is well-known for being one of the most gifted performers of her generation.

So, expectations were high last night when the singer took the Grammy stage to sing “All I Ask."

Unfortunately, the performance - her first at the awards show in four years - was plagued by sound issues.

"The piano mics fell on to the piano strings, that's what the guitar sound was. It made it sound out of tune," she tweeted afterward. "S*** happens.”

Despite her on-stage troubles, the singer, 27, still had a pretty great night. Because of the snafu, she wrote, she treated herself to a late-night snack at an L.A. standby: In-N-Out Burger.

"So maybe it was worth it," she added.

Backstage, Recording Academy President and CEO Neil Portnow explained the piano mishap, adding, "These things happen...all the time to all kinds of people. Rarely, on our show, by the way, I will say, we have an extraordinary track record." The engineers swapped the audio to a backup system, which caused a momentary break in the audio, Portnow explained.

He also praised Adele, noting, "When you're performing...in an intimate performance like she was doing...it can be unnerving. All credit to her."

"The professional that she is -- the show must go on," he continued. "She did a great job."
