Bethenny Frankel wants to show women and girls that they don't need to use filters when they're sharing photos of themselves.

The former "Real Housewives of New York" star posted a selfie on social media Monday along with a message about the importance of authenticity.

Using the hashtags #THISiswhatilooklike #thisisme #unfilteredselfie, she added that she wants to "show our daughters a realistic female image."

"The more I see photos on social media that are filtered, contoured, eyelashed, extensioned, & retouched - the more important it is to post #nofilter, real, everyday photos," she wrote.

Frankel, 49, has always been candid with her fans. In 2016, the Skinnygirl brand entrepreneur said during an interview on "Watch What Happens Live!" that her face shape had changed due to Botox that she'd had injected into her face to help with jaw dysfunction. The procedure, she said, changed the shape of her face. Still, she insisted she hadn't had any other work done.
