Bruce Springsteen is one of the many New Jersey-born stars giving back to his home state amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.
"The Boss" revealed on "Good Morning America" on Tuesday that he will appear in a upcoming broadcast benefit show, "JERSEY 4 JERSEY," for the state, where more than 2,300 have died from the virus.
"New Jersey has been hit especially hard by the coronavirus pandemic, and the people of New Jersey have always stepped up during difficult times," Springsteen shared in an announcement.
"That’s why I’m pleased to announce, on April 22nd, I hope you'll join me, Jon Bon Jovi, Tony Bennett, Jon Stewart, Whoopi Goldberg, Charlie Puth, SZA, Saquon Barkley, Danny DeVito, Chelsea Handler and many more for this special event."
The funds raised from the broadcast event will benefit The New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund. NJPRF provides aid to workers on the front lines and grants to organizations that service hard-hit communities.
"New Jersey is on the front lines of this pandemic, making it more important than ever for us to do what Jersey does best -- take care of one another," New Jersey First Lady Tammy Murphy said in a press release. "That’s why we’re asking everyone in our state to join the NJPRF and some of New Jersey’s finest for some much needed musical entertainment, levity and Jersey Pride during these unprecedented times."
The broadcast event will also highlight the efforts of health care workers in the state and those on the front lines. Information on stopping the spread of the pandemic will be included in the special as well.
"JERSEY 4 JERSEY" premieres April 22nd, 7:00 P.M. ET on ABC.
